The 1984 United States Open Championship was the 84th U.S. Open. The event was held from June 14-17 at Winged Foot Golf Club, West Course in Mamaroneck, New York. Fuzzy Zoeller won his first U.S. Open championship and second major title in an 18-hole playoff over Greg Norman.

Hale Irwin, the U.S. Open champion at Winged Foot in 1974, opened the final round with a one-shot lead[1] and looking for his third Open title. Irwin shot a final round 79 and finished solo sixth.[2]
